 The Congolese police prevented the protesters from moving

Police officers of the Democratic Republic of the Congo stopped the rally of protesters in the capital Kinshasa today Wednesday after the authorities banned the holding of protests against the election results in the conflict-ridden country.

Prominent opposition figures in the impoverished Democratic Republic of Congo have called for protests after rejecting the results of last week's election, which was met with delays and disorganization.

The Minister of Interior, Peter Kazadi stated that the government of the country has prohibited the holding of demonstrations because of its intention to harm the election plans.

However, despite this warning from the authorities, the opposition has asked their supporters to gather near the National Assembly in Kinshasa to march to the headquarters of the country's electoral commission.

Ten riot police have been deployed in the area this Wednesday morning as reported by the journalists of the AFP news agency.

The police fired tear gas at the protesters who support Martin Fayulu, one of the leaders of the opposition, after they crowded the headquarters of their party.

Some of the protesters burned tires.
