40 'miscreants' have been arrested in Zamfara over the post-election violence
The police force in Zamfara state has said it has arrested 40 miscreants who are suspected of turning the election celebration into riots, which led to vandalism and theft of government property in APC offices and the homes of people who are mostly politicians.
In a statement issued by the police in the state through their spokesman SP Mohammed Shehu, she said that the state police commissioner, CP Kolo, with the cooperation of other security agencies, tried to control the situation, where later they arrested 26 people who are suspected to be involved in the incident.
The statement also said that the ongoing investigation by the police has led to the arrest of 14 more people and the recovery of goods stolen by the vandals.
The police commissioner called for calm, assuring that they are investigating and intending to arrest the suspects who escaped and those helping them so that they are punished.
