 The two commendations received by the Director of the National Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) in two places recently, show the importance and diligence he has and his commitment to the task assigned to him in collecting tax revenue.


 His first award was the Institute of Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Award of Excellence, which was conferred on him on May 6, 2023.


 Goodness and knowledge made him and Nami dedicate this important award he received to all his classmates with whom he studied, from primary to university.  Nami also included his colleagues in the President's Committee to Assess the Assets of the Federal Government to Recover from Government Thieves, members of the Advisory Committee on Tax Collection, all taxpayers and members of the FIRS Board of Directors and others.  agency staff.  All of Nami including his family, he dedicated this award to them.


 Nami is a good and brave person who has received good training in tax collection.  And he won the Best Work Experience Award from BusinessDay newspaper.


 Since he became the Chairman of FIRS in 2019, Nami has been doing his job calmly and achieving the resolutions that the government wants to achieve.  In these few years he added to the leadership of FIRS by making great progress in the agency.


 At the ceremony to honor him with the ICAN Medal of Honor during the ICAN Annual Conference in Lagos on Saturday, May 6, ICAN President Tijjani Isa stated that Nami is a person who has tried to successfully move FIRS forward in the  the country and the world, despite the challenges that the world has faced with the economic problems of countries.


 The President of ICAN said that Nami deserves the great award that ICAN gave him, because of his great contribution, and he is giving in economic development and improving the life of the people of this country.


 It is the great plans for improving the lives of Nami at FIRS that have drawn the attention of ICAN to the point that it is convinced that Nami deserves praise.


 At the same BusinessDay awards ceremony on May 4, the newspaper stated that Nami deserved the award because of the vision he brought to improve the operations of the National Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).  .


 Nami has improved the tax collection system and ensured that there is sustainability of the tax payers and sustainability of revenue collection.


 The introduction of the TaxPro Max system provides the easiest way of modern technology, where taxpayers register and pay their taxes through the software wherever they are, not at the FIRS office.


 TaxPro Max has eliminated the long delays in tax payments, which at this time have led to delays in the payment and collection of tax payments and the loss of tax revenue.


 BusinessDay congratulated Nami for his efforts to improve the work of FIRS staff and to import modern technology to ensure the management of work with honesty, follow-up and good success.


 Thanking him for the award, Nami said, "Since I graduated from university 32 years ago, I have been fortunate enough to be close to the members of the ICAN Institute, and now it is  I work directly with over 3,000 ICAN members, in my role as FIRS President."


 Nami is an expert in advising investors, especially in new business ventures and financial transactions.


 Nami started working for PKF in 1993 where he has reached a senior position.  He has held various positions in various areas in the fields of finance and accounting.


 It is his efficiency, honesty, and trustworthiness that in 2022, the FIRS collected an unprecedented amount of tax money in one year, up to 10.1 trillion naira.


 His simplicity, ability to work, competition and trust and patriotism are the virtues that continue to take Nami to the level of success due to his excellent leadership of the National Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
