The Gunmen Shielded the Head of the Local Authority, with the destruction of his bodyguard
Some bandits kidnapped the chairman of Takum local government in Taraba state, named Boyi Manja and killed the police officer who was guarding him.
According to reports, the incident happened on the road of Kofai Ahmadu neighborhood on the Takum to Wukari road on Sunday.
A person close to the chairman of the local government, who requested to remain anonymous, said that the police officer lost his life during the exchange of fire between him and the abductors.
The head of the local government, the police officer and his driver left the state capital Jalingo to Takum where the kidnappers were following them.
The spokesperson of the Taraba State Police Command Abdullahi Usman confirmed the incident.
He said that the local police officers went into the forest to ensure that they rescued him safely.
The state police commissioner has ordered the arrest of those suspected of committing the crime so that they face punishment
