GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders 2023
To help the next generation of global health professionals grow professionally and to improve the capacity of African health systems and health-related research, three scholarships are being made available.
These extremely competitive scholarships are offered to candidates who want to enroll in the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine's (LSHTM) one-year, full-time, face-to-face MSc program.
Award Details
There are three scholarships available for the academic year 2022–2023. Each scholarship will pay for two things: tuition costs, which include any costs associated with required field trips, and a tax-free stipend (living allowance) of GBP 17,633.00.
Qualifications for Funding
Those who wish to apply for these scholarships must:
3. be citizens of and residents of sub-Saharan African nations; 4. intend to return to sub-Saharan Africa after completing their MSc year at LSHTM; 5. confirm that they would not be able to pay for the proposed program of study in any other way by submitting the Supplementary Questions Form; 6. meet LSHTM's minimum English language requirements; 7. have a first degree equivalent to a first or upper second class; and 8. have an offer of admission.
Applicants that can demonstrate (in their application materials) the potential to significantly advance public health and/or health-related research in Africa will be given preference.
How to Use
There are two steps in the application procedure. By the scholarship deadline of 23:59 (GMT) on Sunday, February 27, 2024, applicants must fulfill all eligibility requirements and complete each of the stages mentioned below in order to be eligible for the money.
Step 1
Submit an application for a London-based MSc program of study for the academic year 2022–2023 in accordance with the directions found under the "How to Apply" tab on the page for that program of study.
Step 2
Apply for a scholarship online by selecting the drop-down menu that appears and this scholarship. This application must be submitted with a completed Supplemental Questions Form for this scholarship. Since applicants should already have supplied references, transcripts, a CV, and other materials with their application for study, only this attachment is needed in Step 2.

Application Notes
1 Applicants are urged to finish Step 1 as soon as possible to give the processing of their GBP 50.00 LSHTM admissions application fee enough time. Applicants won't be able to submit an application for study until the payment is finalized. To avoid delays in admissions or payment processing that would prevent recipients of this money from completing the scholarship deadline, we advise applicants to finish and submit their study application at least 1-2 weeks prior to the deadline. In order to ensure prompt processing, we advise applicants to submit a comprehensive application for study as long in advance of the scholarship deadline as feasible.
2. Each applicant for the GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders for 2022–23 should only submit one application. Because the first application filed will be taken into consideration and there won't be a chance to upload the Supplementary Questions Form after submission, we urge applicants to thoroughly review their online application and any attachments before submitting.
3. Candidates should apply for the scholarship by completing simply the scholarship application (Step 2 above) and submitting it by the scholarship deadline if they have previously submitted a completed 2022–23 London–based MSc application and/or have received an Offer of Admission.
4. Applications that are incomplete won't be taken into account for this financing. Applications that lack the necessary supplemental information at Steps 1 or 2 above are considered incomplete. By the scholarship deadline, both the study application and the scholarship application must be finished. By the scholarship deadline, applicants must make sure that all required supplemental materials (including references) have been submitted via the LSHTM Admissions Portal.
5. Applicants for any of the 19 non-distance learning Master's programs provided by LSHTM are eligible for these scholarships, including those for our collaborative MSc Global Mental Health, MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing, MSc One Health, and MSc Veterinary Epidemiology programs.
6. Please note that LSHTM does not handle admissions for the following programs, thus you will be sent to the joint provider to finish your application to study: MSc in Veterinary Epidemiology, MSc in Global Mental Health, and MSc in One Health: Ecosystems, People, and Animals.
7. After receiving an offer of admission, applicants whose application for study is accepted will be required to provide a deposit within 28 days. Scholarship applicants at LSHTM must write the admissions team to let them know they are waiting on the scholarship decision (in this email, applicants must include the name of the scholarship and the anticipated decision date). This needs to be done again for each application the applicant has submitted. The admissions team will then extend the deposit deadline to coincide with the scholarship funding decision deadline.
8. Candidates should first attempt clearing their browser cache and making sure they are using the most recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari if they have any technical issues when utilizing the online scholarship application form. If this does not resolve the technical issue, kindly get in touch with LSHTM's IT Services team and let them know the applicant's full name, the scholarship they are applying for, and the technical problem they are having. If at all possible, provide a screen shot along with your email to servicedesk@lshtm.ac.uk.

10. Applicants accept the terms and conditions of this grant by submitting an application.
11. Please be aware that beyond the deadline, only applications will be examined and processed. No matter when they are submitted, applications that are received before the deadline will all be given the same consideration.
12. Prior to May 27, 2024, decisions will be made and those selected for consideration notified.
