 UK SMART Scholarships for Nigerian Students 2023


We are thrilled to be giving our SMART Scholarship in acknowledgment of the exceptional talent and accomplishments of many of our international applicants.

Your first year of tuition fees will be reduced by $2000 thanks to the SMART scholarship. There is no separate application to fill out; the scholarship is given out as part of the admissions process and is based on your studies application. The offer letter will include information on the selected candidates.


Eligibility

Every year, the SMART application is open from August through December, and awards are given the following spring. Check the qualifications listed below to see whether you qualify to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime chance.


All candidates must:


1. At the time of application, a citizen of the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom;

2. By August 1, 2022, you must be at least 18 years old.

3. seeking at least one year of degree financing (beginning on the program start date) prior to graduation;

4. Be able to complete at least one internship over the summer (only for multi-year scholars).

5. ready to accept work in the DoD after graduation,

6. a student who is enrolled in good standing and has a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

7. be working towards a technical undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the 21 STEM fields listed below, 8. be able to provide a fall 2021 college transcript from a regionally accredited US college or institution, OR be enrolled in graduate school at a regionally accredited US college or university.


To be eligible for the SMART Scholarship, active-duty service members must be separated from active duty or on terminal leave on or before August 1, 2022. Members of the Reserve and National Guard may apply. No applications will be accepted from current ROTC participants with a future service commitment.


What kind of STEM?

The program places a strong emphasis on encouraging students to pursue fields that are essential to the Department of Defense's (DoD) national security operations. The 21 STEM fields that have been deemed appropriate by SMART are listed below. These fields of study or candidate majors may fall under one or more of these main umbrella disciplines since they are all interconnected.


Please be aware that SMART neither approves nor funds non-technical degrees, such as those in management, the arts, or the humanities.

What you need to know: Depending on degree requirements, scholarships are given out for a minimum of one year and a maximum of five years of support. With SMART, each year of support for a degree is reciprocated by a year of civilian employment with the Department of Defence.

1. Must be enrolled in a U.S. college or university that has regional accreditation.

2. At the end of the term, be able to provide a college transcript from autumn 2021 (or earlier).

3. AP credits are not accepted as college credits.

If applying, you must be granted admission in order to enrol in the fall 2022 semester.

For whom is the SMART scholarship available?

1. In order to qualify for the SMART scholarship, you must:

2. Be an international student who pays tuition.

3. Have accepted a full-time teaching position at Staffordshire University (available exclusively at the Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford, and London campuses). This does not include courses in nursing, paramedic science, operating department practise, social work, midwifery, blended learning, or online learning for undergraduate or graduate students.


You are not qualified if you:


Are you getting support from a sponsor or another scholarship provider to pay for all or some of your studies?

applying to a partner institution to take a course offered by Staffordshire University

are eligible for any other Staffordshire University discount or scholarship. If you are qualified for other Staffordshire University scholarships or discounts, the most valuable one will be used.


are requesting admission to a postgraduate research program

Other information:

1. The scholarship is applied for when you first enroll in college and is taken out of your tuition.

On your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), scholarships are applied as a fee deduction.

3. The offer cannot be redeemed if it is postponed to a later intake and is only valid for students starting in September 2022 or January 2023.


When is the deadline?

The SMART scholarship has no deadline, but you must make sure you submit your application with enough time to fulfill all of the terms of your offer and get a visa in order to arrive in time for the start of International Welcome Week in September 2022 or January 2023.

Our international admissions staff will review each application from a qualified student in order to award scholarships. Your offer letter will include information on your scholarship, and the discount will be automatically deducted from your first-year tuition cost.
