 Nigeria security headquarters to investigate 'video of bandits in Katsina'

Nigeria's security headquarters said it has launched an investigation into a video that has gone viral on social media showing suspected soldiers talking to armed men on motorbikes, who are believed to be bandits.

It is suspected that the video was taken in Katsina state in the northwest of Nigeria.

In the video, an unknown person is heard saying that "the people have been reconciled and they will be allowed to pass without being touched."

In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Nigerian Defense Headquarters, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the headquarters said that the purpose of the investigation is to verify the authenticity of the video and identify the soldiers.

The statement added that the center is aware that some of the bandits have decided to convert, and they welcome them.

Katsina is one of the states where the problem of bandits has hit hard.

The bandits often kidnap people and hold them hostage for ransom, they also destroy villages and steal goods and animals.

This comes at a time when the military is seen trying to crack down on criminals in different parts of the country.
